This was a character narrative publication and time-based project I created that tracks the evolution of both real and fictional interactions that I had with an actual mouse that I found in my apartment. I initially discovered the mouse while watching a show called The Peaky Blinders, which is why I called the project The Squeaky Finder. The show tracks a fictional group of 1920’s British gangsters in Birmingham, and the style and drama from the show informed a lot of the content I produced for this project including its final form: a criminal case and case file.

The final document includes a newspaper clipping of a wanted ad – a description of the mouse and his crimes with prints – an eyewitness statement – more descriptors – and a map of where I the ‘evidence’ was in relation to the crime scene, all pointing back to where I eventually found his home. There is also a catalogue of the evidence – with scanned pages that label each item. Also linked as evidence there is the lyrics from the opening theme of Peaky Blinders, with underlined lines that are particularly applicable to the project. The film negatives at the end of the file exemplify instances where the mouse may have been 'caught' on tape, and also incorporate my initial sketches for the project narrative.
